As you can see the North East benefits from slightly lower than average heating oil prices compared with the rest of the UK. There is a clear trend showing heating oil prices rising stedily throughout the year to reach an average of just over 41.03 pence per litre in February 2010.

While it is normal that fuel prices would rise during Winter they have not dropped back down towards similar levels as they were in March 2009. Is this steady constant rise something we should get used to? Perhaps during the summer months we will see prices get back under 40 pence per litre. Whatever happens we will let you know as soon as we do.
